Hanging with Louisa Chan.
Louisa Chan has always been passionate about writing and all things fun since childhood. The former press editor in Hong Kong and Vancouver had a remarkable 10-year career in the publishing industry before she decided to drop everything and write, for the sake of writing. Henceforward, her first blog LFORLIFE.COM was born.
1. Louisa is a......
Copywriter, blogger, instagramer, facebooker, food lover, wine/cocktail drinker, home cook(for human and dog!), rescue mom, pet enthusiast, hiker, traveler...and a novice camper!
2. I grew up in......
Hong Kong and Taiwan. Hong Kong is famously acclaimed for our shopping centers and fine-dining restaurants while Taiwan offers the best street food.
Vancouver became my latest residency - A home among fresh air, clean water and tall trees; a home known for its coastal seafood and eating local; a home with easy access to Asian cuisine and West Coast bistros; with an addition to a piece of world-class wine region and all-around friendly and open-minded people; it is truly one of the best cities to live in.
Rice. My grandpa owned a rice specialty store, I have fond memories of my silly self diving in one of the ceramic rice pots while grandpa looked on with a smile.
My parents are avid travelers and cooks, my love for food definitely stems from their knowledge of global cuisines.
4. I started cooking......
I remember coming home from elementary school, I would help my mom prep dinners. From peeling vegetables to chopping and stir-frying, I learned basic cooking skills and recipes from my mom. Cooking is my meditation, my way to de-stress.
5. I love to......
Hit the outdoors with partner and dog. I used to be a city girl who loves shopping, but ever since I adopted Lex, all we want to do is spend time with him. Going hiking in the North Shore or leisure walks at the dog beach, a hot summer day with nature becomes one of our favourite family's activities!
6. This summer.....
I went camping for the first time! Even though it rained most of the trip, it was still super fun. The turquoise colour lakes in the Okanagan are magnificent!
Try SUP(stand up paddling) and do kayak again before it gets cold. City girls falling in love with outdoor activities, amazing eh?
Try to cook for him as much as possible. I make dehydrated liver or meat treat for him regularly, I also make him dinner whenever I have time. 1 part of vegetables, 1 part of carbs plus 2 parts of protein is the golden rule.
I understand oral health is extremely important to dogs so I brush my dog's teeth every day since he was 4-5 months old, the mechanism of brushing works way better than any dental treat. Our vet said Lex's health condition scores A+, I guess I have to thank myself for all the effort I've put in!
9. I fell in love with......
Organic beauty care. Recently I took a further step to the organic lifestyle by using all-natural organic skincare products. The natural scent from essential oil and floral extract make me feel so relaxing and soothing.
Learn gardening. It's my dream to build an edible garden on my balcony, but first of all I need to learn how to plant! Cooking fresh ingredients from my own pots would be utmost satisfying.
It was great fun "hanging with" with Louisa Chan. To know more about Louisa you can catch her on my show when she makes guest appearances talking about her adventures in food and animal welfare. Check out more photos of Louisa here http://deborah.oybsite.com/album/2442 Deborah Moore.
