I consider myself a late comer as far as Korean beauty products are concerned and I'm so glad I'm finally onto it. Better late than never! K-pop and K-drama is at an all time high and many Hallyu (Korean Wave) stars have reached world wide recognition. Fans the world over want to emulate the "Korean" look which consists of a dewy look on pale skin. I have to say the few Korean dramas that I have watched, I did notice the female actresses have amazing skin.
Now I'm not sure I'm trying to emulate anyone or anything but as a fan of beauty products to begin with. I'm happy to test out a few of their much sought after products. Some, but not all, Korean beauty products can be found in North America, especially in Asian Malls. However, I do find it to be considerably less expensive if you purchase them online.
So, after roaming around Vancouver, I purchased several Korean beauty products and have been happily using them since. I love the packaging of many of the products. So very cute! I am also now a convert of the 'air cushion' which is a whole new way to apply foundation on the face without it appearing too cakey or drying. I love the results and I'm exploring many of the other lines as well. Have you tried any Korean beauty products? Do you have any favourites? Drop me a line and let me know.
These are the products I used today. I absolutely love the Laniege Snow BB Soothing Cushion with SPF 50+. it's very moist and not drying on my skin. I started with clean skin, then I applied sunscreen. I followed this with Laniege Skin Veil Base EX which is primer. It's a very light green that blends well into the skin and hides red undertones.
Then I applied a layer of Etude House's Any Cushion also in green. It goes on fairly white which is perfect for my red undertoned skin. I even applied it lightly to my eye area instead of using a concealer. I find it works just as well because it's so white and is actually more moisturising. Then I applied the Laniege Air-cushion. I am using Natural Sand Beige. It's a darker colour which is perfect. It blends well with the white/green base that I applied with Etude House Any Cushion. Voila! Dewy skin is accomplished. If I'm at all concerned about shiny skin (which I'm not really), I have a Canmake powder on standby. (That's actually a Japanese brand). I also use a cream blusher Apieu Creamy Dome Blusher on the apple of my cheeks in keeping with the dewy look.
For my eyes, I tried out the Apieu 2-step Eye Gradation Maker. One Taupe and one Mauve colour on either end of the marker. It's very easy to apply and you can just smudge with your fingertips. It comes out more brown than purple. But I still like it and actually think it looks quite natural.
I also came across this face spray HADANOMY Aquaplacenta mist which I used after all the makeup has been applied and a few times afterwards whenever I remember. Speaking of Korean beauty products, BB cream is a must. I have been using SNAIL Nutrition BB Cream by SKIN79 and TonyMoly Intense Care Snail Hydro-gel Mask.
I love this Elizavecca Milky Piggy Carbonated Bubble Clay Mask. It goes on like a mask and washes off bubbly and acts like a cleanser leaving your skin feeling squeaky clean.
My toner of choice lately has been this IOPE Bio Essence Intensive Conditioning. You only need a small amount on a cotton pad. I follow this with a very generous layer of Laneige Water Sleeping Pack EX. It does feel very wet and dries sticky. I apply a generous amount and leave it on overnight as I sleep and then wash it off in the morning. My skin does feel hydrated overnight. I try to use the water pack two or three times a week.
I love this TonyMoly Peach Handcream. The packaging is adorable and the hand cream is very moisturizing.
This cute bunny is actually a face mist - Pocket Bunny Moist Mist. The packaging is adorable. It's quite small and can fit into a handbag. The other good thing is that the bottle is actually reusable and you can fill it with your toner or facial mist of your choice! There is another green one for oily skin.
