Miss Chinese (Vancouver) Pageant 2013

One of the biggest events taking place each year is the Miss Chinese (Vancouver) Pageant. Like previous years, it is held at the Vancouver Convention Centre and is broadcast live on television.  Beautiful and talented girls from all over the Lower Mainland participate and only 10 are chosen to compete in the competition.  The winner represents Vancouver in the Miss Chinese International Pageant held in Hong Kong. The contestants of this international event are Chinese girls who are winners in their own pageant and come as far as New York, Sydney and London to compete for this prestigious title.  Vancouver has a very good track record of winners.  Our lovely girls in Vancouver always do well and have won this title six times over the years.  I have had the pleasure of both emceeing and judging in the past.  This year marks the 19th Anniversary of the pageant.  The show organizers pulled out all the stops and produced a fantastic show.

The new Miss Chinese Vancouver is 23 year old Miss Cindy Zhong (鍾熠).  The runners up are Jennifer Lee (李佳美) and Jamie Gao (高嘉馨).  Each year the pageant is associated with the Canadian Cancer Society.  They sell tables to raise funds and awareness for their Society. Tickets are highly sought and tables are usually sold out early for this prestigious event.  Local dignitaries and celebrites can be seen mingling together with the judges.  This year's judges included Dr. Anita Leung (梁鳳儀), Mr. Boxi Liang (梁伯熙), Ms. Cici Chen (陳娜良子), Mr. David Wong (黃海天) and Mr Yaming Li (李亞明).  They had the unevniable task of selecting one from our bevy of beauties to represent Vancouver in the next Miss Chinese International Pageant to be held in Hong Kong.  Good Luck to Miss Cindy Zhong!
